Clogged Sprayer on your Bissell Little Green? Try this.

Hey folks, earlier on the blog, I raved about the Bissell Little Green. Some of you later emailed me (why the email, people? Just use the comment box and share with the rest of the class!) and told me that you loved your Bissell Little Green, too, but have been having problems with the nozzle getting clogged. I did some reading and found that the sprayer not working on the Bissell Little Green is kind of a common problem. So common, in fact, that it happened to me the other day.

I found out that the problem is that there’s mineral deposits building up in the machine. That’s bad news, because I’m dumb and should’ve seen this coming. I have really hard water where I live (thanks, bygone steel industry in Pittsburgh!) and I use distilled water in my iron for this reason. It never occurred to me that using distilled water in my iron to prevent mineral buildup was exactly what I should be doing with my Bissell Little Green.

So, seeing as it was a mineral buildup that was stopping up the sprayed in my Bissell Little Green, I decided that CLR would do the trick. And it did.

Here’s what you got to do to fix a broken sprayer on a Bissell Little Green:

Pour some liquid CLR Calcium Lime Rust Remover straight into the clean water tank on your clogged Bissell Little Green. (You can also use LimeAway.) Put about 3/4ths of an inch in the tank.

Turn on the Bissell Little Green and push down on the sprayer button. It should begin spraying right away. Don’t spray out all the CLR.

After that, let it sit for 10 minutes. This will let the CLR work on the innards of the Little Green.

Next, run the rest of the CLR through and then run two tanks of clean water.

Now, in the future, to prevent clogs in your Bissell Little Green, go to the store and buy a jug of distilled water whenever you use the machine. If you want to heat it up before putting it in the machine, just put it in the tea kettle. After you are done using your Bissell Little Green, run a clear tank of water through it before storing it. And if this happens again, just fire some CLR though it again – but I don’t think it will!
